THE old National 340 road has disappeared as it passes through Estepona. The four lanes of Avenida Espana have been transformed into a wide space for strolling with dozens of trees, palm trees and thousands of plants, a cycle lane and space to walk along the beach.

Bell of dreams

THE sound of hope against cancer is already ringing at HC Marbella after the inauguration of its ‘Bell of Dreams’, which has been installed in the Oncology Unit of the hospital. The hospital believes it will give encouragement to sufferers when a patient gets the all­clear and rings the bell.

Ecological wealth

SEA LIFE Benalmadena and Planeta Explora are collaborating to highlight the natural heritage and ecological wealth of the seabed. The programme which has been running since October has seen more than 600 students from all over the province of Malaga and has 3,000 more bookings.

New flight

THE British airline Jet2.com has announced another new flight between the UK and the Costa del Sol. The airline will now fly between Bristol and Malaga four times a week. The service ix expected to start this summer.

Top snack

A SANDWICH prepared in Marbella has been voted the best in Spain at the Madrid Fusion gastronomy summit. The sandwich made from beer bread included pickled partridge, ham, mustard seeds, red wine, leeks mushrooms and seasoning. The chef from El Parque de la Milla restaurant won €1,500 for his invention.

FUENGIROLA’S green lung area is set to become a reality.

The facility will be located on a municipal plot of almost 30,000 square metres and will have sports, leisure and rest areas for all tastes and ages.

“It will be the largest green space in the city, a different and modern park. With an innovative design, integrated into the surroundings and in keeping with the image of the New Fuengirola,” explained the mayor, Ana Mula.
