Fundraising fun at the flea market

A LOCAL charity enjoyed a fabulous day of fundraising fun in Marbella’s Parque de la Alameda on Sunday, February 5. Horizonte Proyecto Hombre, a charity that helps individuals struggling with addiction and homelessness held their regular flea market, selling a variety of exciting products in a magical community atmosphere.

Members of the community enjoyed browsing stalls and chatting with volunteers at the project while contributing to their life­saving work.

The ‘rastrillo’ flea market takes place every two months, offering visitors a chance to pick up a range of novelty and practical household items, from clothing and home decor items to books and toys. Proyecto Hombre holds the market to raise money for their vital work in supporting homeless people, people with addictions and those who are affected by loved ones’ addictions.

Speaking on the radio ahead of the event, Director of Marbella Horizonte Proyecto Hombre, Jaime Álvarez explained that the fairs are, “very important in raising money for the charity. There is always work to be done and in our 41st year, we are seeing lots of cases of people needing emotional support and help in confronting drug and other addictions.” samples of soil on the proposed site to give more detailed estimates about how many floors the car park can have and vehicle capacity figures.

Regional government representatives, José Repiso and Ruth Sarabio shared their delight at the collaboration with Marbella authorities saying they want to improve local residents’ quality of life.

ON Sunday, February 12, Marbella Arena welcomes back the return of the market at the Bulls Sqaure of Puerto Banus. The Street Market Arena will be taking on new stalls, focusing on local artists, environmentally friendly products and eco ­ conscious businesses and producers. The market will have live music, food stalls and bars where you can taste some of the best locally sourced food on the Costa del Sol.
