Carnival begins

FEBRUARY marks the beginning of Carnival and it is set to get underway this weekend.

Saturday, February 11, is the official start of the Malaga carnival extravaganza, with the celebrations commencing at 8pm there will be a selection of Carnival gods and goddesses, and events on the main stage that will take place at the Plaza de la Constitucion.

On Sunday, there will be various events to take part in such as the children’s fancy dress competition that starts at noon.

The official Carnival parade starts in Pasillo de Santo Domingo at 5.30pm and will include colourful floats and performers with fantastic costumes throughout.

Concerts will also be taking place throughout the early evening until 8pm!

The Children’s carnival will be the perfect activity to do this weekend with family.

The children’s parade is from noon onwards with fun and games taking place from 12pm ­ 2pm and 5 ­ 7pm.

They also have an extensive list of drinks including cold beers, mouth-watering cocktails and fabulous wines to enjoy with your dishes.

TOPS singers come together to celebrate Valentine’s with a spectacular concert, sweeping you off your feet on Saturday, February 11, in Alhaurin el Grande.

Making our hearts skip a beat, the fabulous group of five will be taking stage at the Alhaurin Golf Clubhouse. With support acts, Tres Delicias, On The Road Rocks and TAPAS Choir it will only be sweet melodies making their way throughout the Clubhouse.

Performing the best love hits and more, guests will be serenaded and have the ‘time of their lives’. The concert is due to begin at 8pm, so arrive early for drinks beforehand and some delicious food to start.

Tickets are still available and can be found online by emailing the box office group topsboxoffice@ya hoo.com or from the Papeleria Cristina in Alhaurin El Grande. Tickets start at €10 for TOPS members and non­members €12. All proceeds go to charity.

ON January 20 last year, Carly Lesley’s beautiful little boy, Reggie, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at eight years old. Carly confirmed: “As a parent, there is nothing that can ever prepare you to hear the words that your child has cancer, it’s heartbreaking, to say the least. Reggie was transferred from our local hospital to Great Ormand Street within 48 hours where he is currently receiving treatment.
