A wee problem

IN 2015, a German court recognised a man’s right to urinate while standing.

In a country where men are now encouraged to sit while peeing, his landlord wanted economic compensation for urine damage to the marble bathroom floor.

Despite lacking reliable data for the UK, an informal poll revealed that about 70 per cent of men still stand.

Urologists explained that there are many advantages to sitting, and not only to men’s partners who have to clean the bathroom.

“The bladder empties faster and for men with lower urinary tract symptoms the sitting position is preferable to standing,” they maintain.

STANDING ROOM ONLY: Men are encouraged to sit.
