PFC Malaga had to fight until the last minute to take a comeback win against UD Antequera at home in the league. A last minute strike from Shakira Fuentes handed Pedro Martin’s team all three points.
PFC Malaga Women were facing one of their closest rivals in the league and this high quality match didn’t disap point. The 21 win over UD Antequera included both great defence and swift at tacking moves, but the mid field scored the goals to seal an 11th straight win in the second Senior Women’s Andaluza league and consolidate top spot.
Colombian International player Luisa Vertel scored the equaliser in min 43.
Although one could easily have suspected more Antequera goals were on the way in the second half, but home keeper Marina Jimenez was going to have a big say in mak ing sure that that was not the case.
Referee Samuel Moreno was in a card giving mood and handed out yellow cards like it was candy during the three kings parade.
After around 45 minutes of dominant defensive football by both teams, Sakira Fuentes finally gave Malaga the lead.
The crowd and atmosphere at Guadalmar football field was electric and fun as soon as Fuentes scored the crowd on hand went into a frenzy.
United continued their fine form on all fronts in today’s match. Jose Mourinho was in charge the last time the club won anything, which was the exact same trophy. One can only feel though that under the control of their new Dutch manager, this will not be the last time.
