MURCIA’S town hall has launched a new programme to support families and help reconcile family and professional life. One of the services offered in this new programme is a babysitting service. You can already apply for this service if you have children aged from 0 six years old. The service supplies a babysitter for a maximum of four hours per day and a maximum of 40 hours per year. The service is available between the hours of 8am and 8pm and they can care for a maximum of two children at the same time.

Within this programme, another service is being trialled in the towns of Lobosillo, Beniján, Alquerías, and Murcia. They will open schools from 4pm to 8pm to provide afterschool care for children. All of the services are free and are part of a pilot programme. The town hall will use this pilot programme to gather information with the intention of expanding it depending on the demand.

The mayor of Murcia, José Antonio Serrano, highlighted that this is the first programme of its kind. More than €456,000 were invested into this programme. The funds were provided by the Spanish government and the Murcian government.

During the Easter holidays, there will also be a number of ‘holiday camps’ available for children, you can check with your town hall to see if your town is running one. They are also free of charge.
