Police radars

SEMANA SANTA is here and with it a massive influx of tourists, both Spanish and European flock to the coast to spend the Easter holidays on the beach. Rightly so. The quiet coastal towns along the Costa Calida are bursting with holidaymakers and while we enjoy the added ambiance in the bars and restaurants we don’t necessarily enjoy the added chaos on the roads. Tourists in holiday mode and unfamiliar with their surroundings can make for crowded and sometimes dangerous traffic situations. The Guardia Civil anticipating this has put in place a special operation that will see approximately 200 Guardia Civil police officers carrying out surveillance, control, and regulation patrols. There will also be five fixed speed control points and five mobile vehicles with radar. The operation is concentrated around the entrance of the tourists and their exit where the traffic is due to be more intense, for example on the A7 where it links with the A30 and the RM19. This operation will also include alcohol and drug patrols, it strives to prevent as many accidents as possible so we are free to enjoy the Easter holidays.
