SAN PEDRO DEL PINATAR is encouraging everyone to get active this Easter, with a host of activities available for all.

The title of their indicative is called ‘San Pedro Te Mueve’ (San Pedro Moves you) and it runs from Thursday, April 6 until Sunday, April 9. The programme of activities is extensive including sports and cultural activities that will be scheduled to complement the San Pedro de Pinatar processions.

Lagoon protests

NEIGHBOURS and ecological associations assembled in Cala del Pino and on Playa del Turco in La Manga to protest about the construction underway in the natural area of the Mar Menor. The protest began with the symbolic planting of some pineapple trees. The protesters highlighted that the area needs more vegetation not more concrete.

Teresa Vicente for the ILP Mar Menor Platform said “we have come to support the rights of the lagoon to be preserved as a natural environment.”

They commented on the amount of construction taking place around the Mar Menor lagoon and they want to try and protect the natural spaces that remain, Cala del Pino, the Dunes of Veneziola and the green belt of Miteco.

Some of the protesters tried to slow down the ongoing construction of a chalet in the Cala del Pino by placing themselves in front of an excavator. The three women that did this have been summoned to the police station of Benemérita in Cabo de Palos to give statements and will most likely face an administrative sanction.

Some of the activities we can look forward to are the Artisan Market La Sal, the Microtheatre at Sea, Street Theatre and Storytelling, free guided tours of the Salinas of San Pedro del Pinatar Natural Park, a masterclass and exhibitions of street dance, parkour, skateboarding, a free concert and much more. More information on the details and the timetable for all the events can be found on the town hall website and on social media outlets also.
