SAN JAVIER Council passed a new statute on Thursday, April 13. Its objective is to regulate the use of electric scooters and bicycles, and pedestrians using skates, skateboards, or anything similar. The new decree also includes the use of wheelchairs for people with reduced mobility, whether they are electric or motorised. The idea is to promote road safety and prevent accidents, especially in relation to electric scooters as their popularity increases the number of accidents has become a problem in the area surrounding Plaza de España.

The new statute also es­ tablishes that the vehicles must have an acoustic warning system and front and rear lights. They also recommend the use of helmets and civil liability insurance.
