IN a remarkable effort to improve the quality of life for its elderly residents, Almuñecar Council has embarked on a major renovation project on three sheltered living spaces in the town.

The renovations primarily focus on upgrading bathrooms and kitchens to ensure they are in the best condition possible for new residents. The renovations aim to make the spaces more accessible for residents with disabilities or reduced mobility.

Authorities shared an update on the renovation scheme on Tuesday, May 16 saying that over the past year, they have fully renovated a total of 15 sheltered living spaces which now all now have new residents settled in. The current three homes under renovation take the total homes receiving upgrades to 30.

Maria del Carmen Reinoso, the local councillor for Social Services and Elderly Affairs explained, “The renovations also include system upgrades to electric systems, the replacement of bathtubs with accessible showers, as well as essential repairs, painting, and anti ­ mould work.”

The council said that they are committed to improving the quality of life for its older residents and to giving them a safe and enjoyable environment to call home.
