REGIONAL authorities from the Diputacion de Malaga announced exciting plans to create sustainable transportation in Axarquia’s rural regions during a meeting on Tuesday, May 23.
During the meeting, authorities and transport experts discussed the benefits of these transportation plans and the practicalities of creating a new system. Not only will the plans help the environment and make it easier for people to move around, but they are also expected to bring in money from European funds to the region.
To make these plans a reality, authorities have approved a budget of €252,404. They have also enlisted expertise from Tragsatec logistics company to assist them in developing the plans, who will assess the needs of each town.
Authorities also announced a list of towns ex pected to be part of the project, which include: Alcaucin, Algarrobo, Almachar, Benamargosa, Canillas de Albaida, Colmenar, Comares, Competa, Frigiliana, La Viñuela, Periana, Riogordo, and Sayalonga. Transport issues are one of the greatest concerns for residents living in these towns, each with a population lower than 20,000 people, so these plans are expected to improve quality of life for residents, improve accessibility, and promote sustainable transport options.
