ALMERIA’S Municipal Sports Board (PMD) is constantly working with the population to get them involved in physical activity and has now opened the registration period for a new walking route to be held on Sunday June 4.
The circular route covers the Sendero de las Arrodeas in Olula del Rio and is expected to take four and a half hours to complete.
With more than 14 kilometres of path, those interested in participating will have the opportunity to contemplate the impressive views offered by the Andarax Valley, the sea by Mojacar-Garrucha, Vera and the Sierra de los Filabres, among others.
The departure is scheduled for Sunday, June 4, from the Maestro Padilla Auditorium at 9.00am.
The PMD suggest you bring food and water and wear suitable clothing.
All those interested in registering should access the PMD Almeria application, which is available for both iOs and Android.
If you would rather reg- ister in person, users can attend the offices located in the Palacio de los Juegos Mediterraneos between the hours of 9.00am and 1.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Triumphant transformation
THE transformation of Almeria’s Parque La Hoya into the Parque Jardines Mediterraneos is entering its final stretch with work progressing rapidly.
The aim is to open the new recreational area for the public, framed by the Alcazaba and its walls and the Cerro de San Cristobal, in barely a month.
The planting of more than 20,000 plants, shrubs and trees is continuing with the work now more than 80 per cent complete.

THE Provincial Council of Almeria has approved the award of the works of the Ejido Norte Multiple Use Centre with a total budget of €2,262,037 for the promotion of the infrastructure and the future Sports Complex of Almerimar.
Dance awards
FLAMENCO groups from Almeria led by Ines de Ines won three national awards in Avila on May 27. They won first prize in the Adult category, another two in the Youth category and the Spanish Flamenco dance championships.
Welcome home
TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY components of the third rotation of the 38th Lebanon Brigade contingent (Brilig), under the command of Brigadier General Melchor Marin Elvira, arrived home in Almeria on May 27 after spending six months on a mission in Lebanon.
