White Night

ALMERIA once again thoroughly enjoyed White Night, Noche en Blanco, on May 25 when the streets of Almeria were jampacked with thousands of residents and visitors.

where it did not exist, in a length of about 700 meters, to give continuity to an interrupted route from the tunnel of the Carretera de Níjar to Calle Pilares, in the direction of the neighbourhood from Los Molinos towards Levante.

The work in this area has been completed with the provision of new lighting, new trees and signage.

Twelve new trees (tipuanas) have been planted and six new light points, staggered from those existing on the opposite pavement, have also been added. The eight existing luminaries have been replaced by technology LED bulbs.

The mayor of the city, Maria del Mar Vazquez, also enjoyed the activities and expressed her “satisfaction of seeing the streets overflowing with people who enjoy the programming that the city council prepared.”

“It is great to see movement in the shops and catering establishments with a continuous coming and going of people who enjoy their leisure time boosting the local economy.”

The mayor added: “Enjoyment and boosting the economy is the double objective of Noche en Blanco.” of promoting healthy habits and eliminating tobacco consumption.

On this occasion, the solidarity funds will be used for research by the Spanish As­ sociation Against Cancer.

The race consists of two modalities with distances of five and 10 kilometres, although there is the possibility of taking a shorter route on foot to facilitate maximum participation.

Children’s races and games have been planned so that the little ones can have fun while the race is being held.
