With an investment of €3.5 billion, Adif is deploying the Murcia-Almeria high-speed railway which, apart from being the first direct railway connection between the two cities, is a strategic axis of the Mediterranean Corridor. After the arrival of highspeed rail in Murcia, the line under construction will integrate Almeria into the Mediterranean Corridor and connect it with European rail networks, as well as with the Madrid-Castile La ManchaComunitat Valenciana-Region of Murcia high-speed line, contributing to the structuring and cohesion of the territories.

THE Exceltur Tourism Alliance has included three municipalities in Almeria among the 100 most important tourist towns in Spain in its ‘Municipal Atlas of the Social Contribution of Tourism in Spain’, of which 81 are coastal towns.

The national ranking is ordered by the number of tourist accommodation places they have.

The first municipality in Almeria to appear in this ranking is Roquetas de Mar, in 38th place. It has 27,130 tourist accommodation places, of which 65.4 per cent are hotels, 20.7 per cent are key flats, campsites and rural tourism, and 13.9 per cent are dwellings for tourist use. According to this study, this generates almost 4,000 tourist jobs.

Mojacar is in 66th place, with 18,370 tourist places. Almost half of them (49.8 per cent) are hotels, while 30.4 per cent are key flats, campsites and rural accommodations, and 19.8 per cent are dwellings for tourist use. According to this report, these tourist places generate a total of 1,340 jobs in Mojacar.

The third municipality of Almeria in the top 100 is Vera, which occupies the 89th position. In 2022 it had 12,891 tourist accommodations, most of them (35.4 per cent) being tourist dwellings.

The remaining 33.9 per cent are hotel accommodations and 34.1 per cent are campsites, rural accommodations and keykey flats.

This generates 1,072 jobs.

WITH around 60 participating establishments from Almeria’s capital and province there is something for everyone at the Tapas Route through Almeria.

The Ruta De Tapas por Almeria will be held until June 18 and those participating have the chance to win some great prizes.
