SOME 750 people from Roquetas de Mar travelled to Huelva for a three­day trip which left Roquetas on June 20.

The city council together with the associations of the elderly of the municipality took the opportunity to let residents visit Punta Umbria, Isla Cristina, Moguer and the Camino del Rocio.

Thirteen coaches were needed to make the trip.

Over the holiday, among many other activities, the group paid a visit to the shipyards as well as the fish market of Punta Umbria, the Patio de San Javier and its Carnival museum; the house of Juan Ramon Jimenez in Moguer and they also found time to make a pilgrimage in wagons to the Camino del Rocio.

Staff holidays

THE Andalucian Health Service has authorised a total of 35,725 contracts to cover staff on holiday during the summer months with the aim of guaranteeing health care. This represents an increase of 0.12 per cent compared to 2022 when 35,682 contracts were awarded.

BERJA City Council has been working hard over the last few weeks in a bid to kick off the swimming season at the municipal pools on July 1. The weekday tariff is €1.50 for those under 14 and €2 for adults, prices increase slightly over the weekend.

IN an incomparable setting at the Castle of HuercalOvera, 30 people gathered to practise Yoga at the weekend to commemorate World Yoga Day in a bid to raise money for children with cerebral palsy in India.

THE Entrepreneur Bus is a travelling office whose purpose is to promote entrepreneurship and business development in Andalucia. The green coach will be seen dotted around Almeria over the next few weeks offering free advice.

Alternative access

THE Port Authority of Almeria (APA) proposes to make progress on an alternative access to the Port of Almeria, which would be compatible with the future direct connection of the port facilities with the A7.

Project energy

THE presence of a large crane outside Almeria’s Auditorium Maestro Padilla represents the start of some of the works included in the improvement project: Energy Efficiency that the Almeria City Council has invested €600,000 in.
