THE University of Almeria (UAL) is set to land in the centre of the capital.

It has been confirmed that in time for the next academic year, the institution’s headquarters will be relocated in the Paseo de Almeria. The university is taking over the building owned by Social Security next to the Junta de Andalucia. The university’s rector, Carmelo Rodriguez, confirmed his “satisfaction for having achieved a historic desire for the University and for the city of Almeria.

“Since the creation of the UAL, there has been an interest in having an emblematic building in the centre of the city thereby achieving a greater social projection, in addition to supporting socioeconomic and cultural progress.”

The building is located in the most central street of the capital and works will begin shortly so that the building can be inaugurated for the next academic year 2023/ 2024.

“Each challenge achieved is special, but this one will remain in historical memory. As a native of Almeria, I feel excited about what this building is going to mean for everyone,” added the rector.
