War declaration
THE Roquetas de Mar Town Hall has declared a drone war on mosquitoes and is very happy with the results. The use of drones has been the latest technological means of fighting against this plague of insects.
After a recent technical visit to the Ribera de La Algaida, to know in situ the location of the points where it is necessary to spray for adult mosquitoes and larvae, the drones are already working in the area to kill the mosquitoes.
The special difficulty of this natural space has made it necessary to work with the latest technology to access each and every one of the points detected with larvicides.
The Roquetas de Mar Town Hall confirmed that the treatment against these insects and their larvae is being carried out all year round and has been carried out more intensively since before the arrival of high temperatures.

San Juan Mojacar

THE bonfires had been prepared the previous day along the beaches of Mojacar Playa. The morning of the 23rd was subdued: the lull before the storm. The children had begun their summer holidays, parents prepared picnics for the early evening and headed down to the beaches to claim their space on the beaches. As usual cars invaded every space along the beach.
Six o’clock came and this marked the start of the San Juan Festival: the saints day for all Juans in Spain. John the Baptist remembered throughout all of Spain: the saint who was next to the baby Jesus.
The various bonfires up and down the beaches created a spectacular scene with families and people of all ages dancing on the sand and even a few taking a midnight dip in the tepid calm sea.
The quarter moon glowing above the village on the hill: the old village of Mojacar. The moonlight promoting the pagan history of this celebrated night that is San Juan. The mystical scenes conjuring thoughts of times gone by in this magical place famous throughout Spain and afar.
Yet another magical night was had by many and new memories created for those on their first visit to Mojacar.
