THE University of Almeria has now opened the doors to its Natural History Pavilion, a space that will be a permanent exhibition centre and also host numerous outreach activities such as workshops and conferences.

At its inauguration, the rector, Carmelo Rodríguez, said: “This space is a very special building that will fulfil all the functions of the University.
“It was created as the headquarters of a research centre and contains laboratories for research. It is also a building prepared for dissemination and interaction with society as a whole.”
The rector also pointed out that despite being called the Natural History Pavilion, “it meets all the conditions to be a Natural Science museum, which is what we are aiming for.”
Four years have passed since it was planned to start up. During this time, the initial investment of €600,000 has doubled to €1,280,000.
The Natural History Pavilion is open to the whole society and not only to the university community. It aims to become not only a cultural reference but also a tourist attraction for the province.
