Murcia Pride
LGBTQ Pride was celebrated in the Region of Murcia on Saturday, June 24, albeit in a different format from previous years.
Parades passed through the streets of Cartagena and Murcia with smaller towns arranging events. They delivered a powerful manifesto defending the rights of the LGBTQ community, while a vibrant Pride party featuring music and performances.
The focus of the protest party centred on safeguarding hardwon rights against the backdrop of increasing ‘hate speech’. Participants emphasised the importance of countering hate in the face of a rising extremeright ideology.
The parades and events exuded a festive spirit, infusing rhythm into the day’s protests and celebrations. A multitude of people joined the procession, passionately demanding their rights. Despite some progress, individuals acknowledged that there is still a long way to go.
