With pride

LA NUCIA commemorated International LGBT Pride Day this week by hanging a banner from the town hall and organising various educational and awareness activities.

‘Love, respect, freedom, rights. Without closets, with pride’ read the banner hung from the front of the council building for the third consecutive year to show solidarity with the worldwide event celebrated on June 28.

A number of cultural and educational activities have been carried out in the town over the last two months under the programme Educando en igualdad (Educating in equality).

They included a series of talks on preventing discrimination and raising awareness among students at IES La Nucia college, organised by teams of professionals from ALGTB BenidormMarina Baixa and Entendemos Alicante associations to promote tolerant and safe educational environments.

A second project entitled Biblioteca de colores (Library of colours) was held at the Sant Rafael and Muixara primary education centres with a collection of 20 books promoting the visibility, integration and respect of diverse family models.
