Forgers arrested

AN operation by Benidorm and Madrid police forces at Calpe market enabled the dismantling of a criminal gang dedicated to forging products of well­known brands of clothing and technology.

Up to 10 suspects have been arrested in Calpe and the Valencia towns of Manises and Quart de Poblet, where officers discovered three warehouses with more than 47,000 counterfeit products.

The case was reported by representatives of the forged brands, who informed the authorities that the fake products were being sold at several stalls in the local market of the Marina Alta town.

Officers performed an initial investigation and identified and arrested the sellers of seven stalls with the help of an expert in brand forgery who con­ firmed that the products on sale were counterfeit.
