Calpe traffic restrictions

CALPE Town Hall will restrict traffic in several streets in the town centre throughout the summer.

The aim is to “recover spaces for residents and to encourage the activity of bars and restaurants,” according to the council.

Vehicle access has been restricted on Calles Justicia, La Fuente, Llibertat, Cervantes, Plaza La Villa, Reverendo Penalva and Dos De Mayo from Friday to Monday between the hours of 8pm and 3am since June 16, but from Saturday July 1 and until August 31 the restriction will be applied during the week as well.

Restrictions on Calle Mayor, between Vicente Gallard crossing and Santíssimo Cristo, have been applied since May 10 and will continue every day of the week from 5pm to 3am until October 2.

The same restrictions apply to Calle Pintor Sorolla, also until October 2, as well as Calle Portalet, where traffic will also be barred from 1.30pm to 3am on weekends and bank holidays.

Calle La Niña is closed to traffic every day from 9.30pm to 4am until October 2, and Calle Del Mar is closed every day from 1.30pm to 3am also until October 2.

UP to 15 finback whales have been spotted off the coast of Denia in just 10 days. While the presence of the animals is not uncommon in the area, sightings increase in June and July every year as they pass through the Marina Alta on their migratory routes.
