Villajoyosa summer concerts

VILLAJOYOSA Town Hall has presented a full programme of cultural events for the summer.

It kicks off with a concert by Alba Asensi at the Jardín Doña Concha La Barbera at 8.30pm on Thursday June 29.

Alba is a singer, harpist and composer from the High School of Music of Catalonia. Sóc poeta is the title of her new album in which each song is inspired by a carefully selected poem. The artist from Alicante has managed to capture in her new work not only the different images and emotions aroused by each of the poems, but also the most representative nuances of her own personality.

The concert lasts one hour and is free of charge but invitations must be collected from the box office.

FROM June 30 to July 5, Teulada Moraira is hosting the yearly Font Santa fiestas in honour of Sant Vicent Ferrer with a host of religious and festive events.

Friday June 30 kicks off with a procession at 1pm followed by a street supper at 9pm and a show by the Orquesta No Comment at 12pm followed by a mobile disco.

Saturday July 1 features a paella competition at 2pm, drinks and music by Sweet Soulz at 5pm and live music with the Orquesta La Tribu at 12pm.

Sunday July 2 will begin with a Holy Mass in honour of the patron saint at 6.30pm followed by traditional dances

and free coques (bread­based pizzas), live stand­up comedy (in Valencian) at 8pm and popular street supper at 9pm and mobile disco at 12pm. Monday July 3 begins with bull­running at 7pm and again at 11pm, street supper at 9pm and bull­running with fire on its horns at 12.30pm.

Tuesday July 4 and Wednesday July 5 will repeat the same programme as Monday, with a spectacular firework display closing the fiestas on Wednesday night.

Then on Thursday (July 6) sees a piano recital by David Gómez entitled 1 piano and 200 candles at the same venue at 10pm. This concert lasts 75 minutes and is free of charge but with limited seats, an invitation is required.
