IF you are based on the Costa Blanca South you probably know that Maria and the Pink Ladies held their Walk for Life on Sunday, June 4. It was once an annual event but this one was the first since the pandemic.

It was a fabulous turnout for the first walk in three years and Maria is pleased to announce that a whopping grand total of €5,057.00 was raised. This fabulous amount of money will all be donated to the AACC to help in the fight against cancer and to also support their Early Detection Programme.

The whole day was filmed by Channel 5’s Bargain Loving Brits in the Sun due to be aired in January 2024.

It was a great turnout with more than 180 participants, most people dressed in pink to show their support for all those that have lost the fight to this heinous disease.

Maria said: “I am overwhelmed once again by the generosity of the people of the coast of Orihuela. This inspires me and all the volunteers to carry on raising funds to help in the fight against cancer.”

Meaning that it is better to be careful now so that problems do not occur later on. The proverb was first recorded in 1837, by Irish novelist Samuel Lover in his novel ‘Rory O’More’.

SATURDAY, June 24, has been crowned as the day with the most influx of people since the start of the Alicante Bonfire festivities of 2023 with the council confirming record attendance. Throughout the day all the terraces in the city centre were occupied and the hotels confirmed they had full capacity.
