Feline retreat

ART and charity are coming together in a unique exhibition currently on display in Nerja. The exhibition, which opened at Nerja Municipal Art Gallery on Friday, June 30, is raising funds for the Red Cross.

Showcasing a diverse collection of 45 magnificent artworks created by 15 talented painters, the exhibition will raise funds and awareness for the work done by the local Red Cross group.

THE summer holidays are here and La Herradura is offering some exciting activities to provide some entertainment for the little ones. This includes the town’s Puppet Festival which is set to return from Thursday, July 20 until Sunday, July 23. Admission is free to each of the shows which begin at 10pm due to the hot summer weather.

The tournament will kick off on Friday, July 7, in the afternoon, with matches scheduled for Saturday morning and afternoon­evening, organised strategically to avoid the hottest times of the day.

The grand finals will take place on Sunday and all are invited to watch and support players. The weekend’s matches will take place at facilities across the town including the Francisco Bonet sports stadium, the Río Verde Complex, and the La Herradura municipal courts.

Shows include ‘Ritmos animalescos’ on Friday, July 21 by the renowned Valencian puppet company, Fábrica de Paraules, and ‘Peneque y Fu Man Chi’ which will be performed on Sunday, July 23.

The deputy mayor, Daniel Barbero shared his excitement for the event. He also highlighted that La Herradura is offering a variety of family activities over the summer after recently being awarded the ‘Family Tourism’ award by the Spanish Federation of Large Families (FEFN).

The exhibition is currently open for viewing from 11am to 2pm and again from 6pm until 10pm. Visitors are asked to give a donation as a token of their appreciation for the art work, which will help support the local Red Cross.
