Active summer

THE Department of Social Welfare of Orihuela City Council has launched its Get Active this Summer programme.

The programme consists of a series of recreational activities aimed at young people who are aged between 12 and 16 and are part of family units in situ ations of special needs.

An estimated 25 children are expected to take part. The children generally come from families being cared for by Social Services or who have been referred by organisations and associations in the municipality.

According to the council lor for Social Welfare, Agustina Rodríguez, the aim of this programme is to create a socio educational resource during the summer period that “allows young people to develop their social skills through inclusive, recreational and cultural activities.”
