ACE SHIN Dog Shelter in La Cala de Mijas has an exciting update for animal lovers!

When faced with the choice between buying a new signpost or feeding the animals, the animal’s well being has always come first. But without a sign, it was difficult for supporters to find the shelter.

However, the power of community support came to the rescue! Last week, an ACE supporter reached out to a local Facebook page, with a plea for donations for a signpost. Eyeprint, a local design company, generously stepped up and created a brandnew sign for the shelter which went up on Saturday, July 1.

The plea also caught the attention of Tania Bertelsen from Tiny Fish, a local advertising and marketing company. In spired by the cause, Tania donated 1,000 sponsorship forms to help with animal rescue efforts.

Founder Fabienne Paques shared her deep gratitude, from herself and her late husband and cofounder, Dirk, “I am so grateful to Eyeprint and Tiny Fish for their generosity, it will really help publicise and promote the shelter, Dirk would be delighted that we now have a proper sign and new sponsorship forms.”

BENALMADENA played host to a threeday Nordic extravaganza last week with the Tropical Costa del Sol Festival.

The festival, which is now in its eighth year, began on Wednesday, June 28, to mark the end of a school trip for Norwegian children.

Over the course of three days, talented bands from Norwegian schools took over various public spaces with incredible live performances, culminating in a sensational performance at the Plaza de la Mezquita.

The musical performances were the perfect grand finale for the children’s school trip. Around 400 Norwegian children and teenagers, aged seven to 20 visited as part of the initiative. The young people immersed themselves in the local culture, embracing both the educational aspects of their trip and the opportunity to showcase their musical talent.

The councillor for Tourism and Foreign Residents, Presi Aguilera, joined the young people and their teachers at Plaza de la Mezquita to enjoy their live music which was a blend of traditional and modern styles.

This lively exchange of culture and music was a fitting end for the students’ brilliant weeklong stay.
