The fair got off to a fabulous start at the fairground on the newly renovated Avenida de España, featuring a range of free concerts for attendees to enjoy.

The event is an incredible showcase of Estepona’s cultural heritage, featuring activities including free horse and carriage rides on Saturday, July 8 and a bullfight on Sunday, July 9. There will also be a traditional horse show on Sunday, promising a chance to experience equestrian elegance live.

With a suggested minimum donation of just €5, these tours offer an extraordinary opportunity to discover local history while uplifting local charities.

COMMUNITY heroes and local authorities gathered at the Edgar Neville Auditorium in Malaga on Tuesday, July 4 for Cudeca’s Joan Hunt Awards Ceremony.

The event, organised by the Cudeca Hospice Foundation and the Malaga Provincial Council aimed to honour Joan’s memory by paying tribute to the invaluable contributions of foreign residents to the region.

Awards were presented to remarkable individuals and organisations making a difference in the community.

Recipients included the Consul of Ukraine in Malaga, Svitlana Kramarenko, the talented singer ­ songwriter Georgina, Torremolinos Town Hall, Bodegas Kieninger, the English

Cemetery, Marbella Dutch Business Club, and Talk Radio Europe. Each recipient was recognised for their outstanding contributions to the region and the international community.

The award, which was created in 2021, celebrates the immense impact of foreign residents on the social, economic, and cultural development of the region. The President of Malaga Provincial Council Francisco Salado highlighted the major role played by the 300,000 foreign nationals residing in Malaga, who also account for 17 per cent of the regional population.

The ceremony also paid tribute to Joan Hunt’s legacy, a pioneering British expatriate who founded Cudeca, introducing their palliative care model to Spain.
