Flamenco festival

MIJAS is set to come alive with sounds of passionate guitar riffs and powerful percussion accompanied by soulful flamenco songs at the town’s Flamenco Festival, which returns on Saturday, July 8.

This year’s Villa de Mijas Flamenco Festival is dedicated to honouring the legendary local guitarist, Paco Cepero. This year’s festival promises a series of mesmerising performances that celebrate the rich Andalucian art form.

The show will transport spectators from the Miguel Gonzalez Berral Auditorium in Mijas into the enchanting world of flamenco, starting at 10.30pm on the night.

Renowned guitarist, Paco Cepero, will be the focal point of the event, bringing his immense talent to the stage.

Paco Cepero is a worldrenowned flamenco guitarist, composer, and author. With a career spanning decades, he has collaborated with flamenco greats and composed over 800 songs. He has also re­ ceived numerous awards for his contributions to the genre.

The line­up includes exceptional flamenco artists such as Ismael Tamayo, Diego Morilla, Esmeralda Rancapino, Diego Amaya, Remedios Reyes, and Julio Romero. Their fiery performances promise to showcase flamenco’s raw emotions and moving rhythms.

Local artists from the Tatiana Cuevas Flamenco Group will also add to the atmosphere with an incredible flamenco painting.

A SUPER charity event is set to take the Costa del Sol by storm on Saturday, September 9. The Caribbean Bar in Carvajal is set to host an afternoon of music, social fun and games, in aid of local charities Cudeca and Age Concern.

Guests will be serenaded by the talented musician Laura Elen, who will perform as well as the sensational band, The Disclaimers, and the acclaimed Costa Soul Singers whose fun and funky tunes will create a lively ambiance at the community party.

The excitement continues with a whirlwind of engaging activities for guests. Guests can take the plunge with an Ice Bucket Challenge, feeling the rush of adrenaline as icy waters cascade down.

Guests can also try their hand at a raffle, where fabulous prizes await the lucky winners.

There will also be a range of other fun games and activities that will keep guests entertained.

Another highlight of the event is sure to be the ‘Landlord’s Swim’ where the venue’s landlords take on the sponsored swim, pushing their limits in the name of entertainment and charitable giving.

In addition to the activities, guests can also order food and drinks at the venue.
