IN great news for the economy it has been confirmed that unemployment fell in Almeria by 408 people during the month of June, coinciding with the start of the summer season.
Compared to the same month of the previous year, 8,955 Almerians ceased to be unemployed in the province. Almeria is one of the three Andalucian provinces where hiring rose during June, with 727 people signing an agreement to work during the 30 days of the month.
With respect to June 2022, the province joins the nega tive trend in Andalucia, with a 22 per cent drop in the last 12 months.
The trend in the province reflects what has happened at the national level, with unemployment levels at a 15year low, coinciding with the onset of the crisis in 2008.
In June, 2,688,842 people were still on the unemployment rolls, with 20.8 million people registered with Social Security.
Six out of every 10 con tracts signed in the region were temporary, a total of 169,674, while the remaining 108,969 were permanent.
By sex, unemployment among women stands out, who were the main ones affected by the lack of work at regional level, with 427,804 people looking for work, almost twice as many as men.
