THE Murcia City Council has implemented a special initiative to support homeless individuals during the hot summer months.

Known as ‘Operation Heat’, the Mobile Emergency and Social Care Service (SEMAS) aims to provide assistance to the most vulnerable in the face of scorching temperatures that can exceed 40º Celsius, as forecasted by Aemet.

Support will also be provided through email (028online@igualdad.gob.es) and online chat service. The service is anonymous, free of charge, and ensures confidentiality.

A team of trained professionals will be available to provide psychological and legal support to callers. The helpline will also cater to individuals with hearing and/or speech impairments and will provide assistance in Spanish, Catalan, Galician, Basque, English, and French.
