The Floridablanca
THE Floridablanca Spa holds immense historical and cultural significance for San Pedro del Pinatar and the Mar Menor. Constructed in 1911, this unique structure consisted of wooden huts, and later, in the 1950s, a distinctive restaurant was added to cater to visitors and patrons.
Today, only a dozen spas remain, most of which are protected as Assets of Cultural Interest (BIC), in varying states of conservation.
In 2017, the San Pedro del Pinatar Town Council commissioned a rehabilitation project for the Floridablanca Spa. The project underwent a simplified Environmental Assessment procedure, resulting in authorisation for its dismantlement
THE historic Lorca Castle, a treasured landmark, is set to undergo renovation. Thanks to a substantial investment of €500,000 from European and the requirement for a comprehensive assessment of the potential impacts associated with its reconstruction.
After the dismantlement of the spa in early 2018, the team responsible for the environmental assessment of its reconstruction began an inquiry into the restoration and the possibility of turning it into a museum.
