SAN JAVIER has unveiled its first ‘library’ in a green area. The Department of Parks and Gardens, in collaboration with various municipal departments, aims to revitalise degraded spaces into vibrant green areas.

Mayor José Miguel Luengo and councillor María Dolores Ruiz recently visited the newly restored 3,000squaremetre green area surrounding the Los Ríos neighbourhood along Calle Río Benamor. This rejuvenated space now boasts the municipality's inaugural ‘bookcrossing’ point, featuring a recycled wood bookcase. The San Javier library will provide a diverse range of books for all ages and preferences, allowing the public to freely borrow, return, or exchange books at their leisure. A wooden picnic table has also been installed for visitors’ convenience.

THE patron saint festivities in San Pedro del Pinatar came to a close with a magnificent parade starting from Lo Pagán esplanade and finishing at the Cultural Casino on Sunday, July 9. The main street was filled with hundreds of onlookers, eagerly anticipating the procession of floats. This year, the theme of the parade was Peter Pan, featuring the youngest members of the community as and Isabel Madrid, responsible for Environmental Awareness and Youth respectively, commended the Aidemar association for their efforts in improving and maintaining this green area. Through the collaboration between the maintenance contract for parks and gardens and the Aidemar Special Employment Centre, the once rocky and neglected area has been transformed.
