Fuengirola’s fairy
FUENGIROLA Council has been on a roll, responding to an impressive 1,768 requests for furniture and household refuse to be collected from public spaces during the first six months of this year.
Carmen Díaz, the councillor for Maintenance revealed the excellent figures on Thursday, July 6, and highlighted the free service’s contribution to maintaining the city’s clean image.

She took the opportunity to remind residents that they must call the number, 900 101 889, between 8am and 3pm from Monday to Friday, before leaving any unwanted items on the streets. “This service is a gift to the people of Fuengirola, ensuring our town remains clean,” Díaz explained. With over 590 tonnes of waste removed from public spaces in the first half of the year, the team at the Maintenance Department has been working tirelessly. The numbers for May and June were particularly remarkable, with more than 300 requests handled each month.
The service currently operates three refuse lorries daily, one in the morning and two in the afternoon, even on weekends. Workers respond to all requests received on the same day or the day before.
