FUENGIROLA is taking a stand against abandoning animals with a pioneering initiative offering free pet adoptions exclusively for registered residents.

The innovative campaign covers all essential expenses, including vaccinations, microchipping, sterilisation, and documentation for the animal.

The council announced the initiative on Wednesday, July 5 saying they created this initiative as the summer season approaches, when pet abandonment rates increase. Authorities see more people part ways with their pets due to holidays and other commitments in summer.

The town’s Department for Health is rallying the community to help them in putting an end to this heartwrenching practice.

The local councillor for Health, also praised the efforts from staff at the Municipal Zoosanitary Park, which has successfully put a zeroeuthanasia policy into place.

All animals at the park also receive preventive healthcare treatments, ensuring their health is in top condition before they go to their new homes.

The programme includes free animal documentation, rabies vaccinations, parasite checks, microchipping, and sterilisation, complying with the Animal Ownership Law.

Anyone interested in adopting a pet can call: 695 269 606 to organise a visit.

Calisthenics is a form of exercise that uses body weight movements to build strength, flexibility, and coordination. It involves performing exercises like pushups, pullups, and squats. Tricker, considered one of the top 10 calisthenics athletes globally, has already won the national championship.
