THE mayor of Roquetas de Mar, Gabriel Amat, has congratulated the AlBayyana Sports Club on their sporting successes this year.
The Sports Club have achieved medals and top places in the province as well as good leaderboard positions in Andalucia in all sporting disciplines.
The mayor confirmed: “Sport opens the mind and helps to learn more.
“Whoever wants to play sports can play sports, this is what the town hall wants to achieve.”
The fantastic climate and stunning natural spaces that host splendidly preserved areas and the greatest diversity of landscapes and ecosystems in Europe together create the best conditions for enjoying nature and hiking.
The network of trails (GR, PR and SL), green routes, natural pathways, green corridors and green gateways in Andalucia is comprehensive and varied, with different levels of difficulty catering for all hikers from experts to beginners, from federated sports clubs to groups of friends, from families with children to senior citizens.
There are also special routes adapted for people with disabilities.
The mayor added: “In Roquetas de Mar there is always a need for more places to practise sports and we must continue to make facilities.
“This month we will open a swimming pool with eight lanes and a large gymnasium. A sand pavilion is also planned.”
Miguel Trujillo, coach of the AlBayyana Sports Club, added: “I wish every year was like this. This year we have managed to place the youngest female team as provincial champion and third in the Andalucian ranking.
“The youngest male was runnerup in the province and third in the Andalucian championship.”
