Beach football camp
MORE than 300 children have signed up to take part in a beach football summer camp on the beaches of San Pedro Alcantara.
The FUTPLAYUNI Beach Football Campus is being held in the town until Sunday, July 30 and offers children aged seven to 14 football training, games and tournaments on the sand. The summer camp will also offer a range of other fun beach activities.
The event’s organisers say it provides an important social opportunity for families, giving children something to do once the school year ends.
The town’s deputy mayor and councillor for Sports visited the camp and praised the “values of sport” that it instills in young people. They also thanked Spanish actor and singer Juan Manuel Montilla, known professionally as El Langui, for developing the camp. El Langui added that the town council’s support makes the initiative possible, and noted that the campers also participate in a range of sports.
During the camp, the children take part in football drills and games from 10am to 1pm, Monday to Friday. The camp will culminate with the fifth annual tournament from Friday, July 28 until Sunday, July 30.
