Star scholarship
THE Duquesa Charitable Society of St George, based in the Estepona area, is making a difference in the life of rising Spanish basketball star, Violeta Rojas Narváez.
The society, known for helping people reach their full potential, is proud to support Violeta on her journey as she leaves Spain to take up a twoyear sporting scholarship at the State Fair Community College in Missouri in the US. Violeta’s basketball career has taken her from Manilva Basket Base to CAB Estepona, then to CB Lloret in Catalonia, and most recently to Adeba de Cordoba for the 20222023 season.
Now, the young woman will study nursing and continue her basketball career in the United States. A university coach reached out to Violeta through her agency, leading to a sports and university scholarship.
The Saint George Charity has supported Violeta’s career moves to Catalonia and Cordoba and presented her with a donation of €550 on Wednesday, July 12. The funds will cover her medical insurance for the coming year.
The Society shared their pride in Violeta and is pleased to be able to provide financial assistance for this latest stage in her career.
