Fun of the fair

GET ready to sing and dance at La Feria de Nueva Andalucia, which begins today, Thursday, July 20. The town’s fair will be held at La Caridad each day until Sunday, July 23.

Local councillor, Cristóbal Garre, met the event organiser Vanessa Ortiz de Zárate and members of the community last week to unveil this year’s programme for the event.

This year’s fair features two orchestras, Dúo Arenal and Rompeolas, as well as local artists and dance academies who will be taking to the stage.

“We are excited to bring back a celebration that honours our local traditions,” said Garre, thanking the festival committee for their work in organising the fair.

The fair opens tonight with a lights­switch on ceremony and the official opening of the fairground. The two orchestras will then give performances followed by music artists including Atienza and

Tomás Rivera.

And, for the little ones, there will be a full day of children’s activities with all the attractions at affordable prices. “It’s a varied programme that brings together all groups and showcases local talent,” added Ortiz de Zárate.

To make the fairground more accessible, a bus service will be available all weekend from Nueva Andalucía.
