THE reasons for an accident in an underground supermarket car park are being investigated. The incident happened on Friday, July 21, in Villamartin, Orihuela, where the fire brigade rescued a man whose car had overturned on the access ramp.

Alicante flights

A LIVERPOOL newspaper, announced that Jet2 will begin flights from Liverpool to Alicante in 2024, describing the destination as Spain’s ‘underrated coastal city’. Flights from Liverpool John Lennon airport to Alicante are currently supplied by budget airline, easyJet.

Airport award

ALICANTE­ELCHE airport has been named the most accessible airport in Europe, according to the ACI. ACI Europe collaborated with the European Disability Forum to identify the airport that demonstrated the most significant progress in accessible services.

Naughty man

A MAN was arrested in Elche for stopping traffic and demanding money from drivers before he would let them pass. Police were called to the scene at l’Hort del Monjo and caught the man in the act. The 31­yearold was detained.

Air rescue

A MARRIED couple had to be rescued by helicopter from cliffs in El Campello on Monday, July 23, when they became completely stuck, perched 50 metres above the sea.
