Campoverde Summer Club A Week of music
THEY say it takes a village to raise a child; well, in Campoverde it takes the village to make sure the children have all they need for their annual Church Summer Club. Recently, the church received a number of items needed to get its summer club started.
Given the hot weather in Spain during August, they needed something to shade the children during their afternoon activities in the church garden. They were delighted when a local business, Bits and Bobs Construction and Handyman Services quickly offered to donate two gazebos. The church was very grateful to ‘Bob the Builder’ for this very generous donation.
Each year the church is always looking for new ideas and ways to involve the kids. This year one of their themes will be God in nature and ‘in the church garden’. Firstly they needed nesting boxes for birds and then an insect hotel. When they designed them they needed someone who had the woodworking skills to produce the frames, but more importantly they needed someone with a strong community focus to take on the task.
There was only one man they had in mind. Alan Harris. Alan, willingly made all the nesting boxes, and then stepped up to the mark again and made the frame of the insect hotel. Alan has used his skills and commitment to help the Church and the wider community. Thank you, Alan.
The church has received many other donations and offers of help which they will report on as the Summer Club progresses.
Campoverde Church in the Community Summer Club runs each year for kids in the village. This year it is taking place on the first four Thursdays in August 3, 10, 17, 24 from 10am to 3pm. Each day there is a programme of morning sports and games, lunch and then afternoon crafts, all with a sprinkling of God. Registration for the Summer Club is free but they rely on the generosity, support and input of the community. If you would like to know more, contact Maggie Dew on mag gieruthdew@hotmail.com
