Coastal challenge
TORREMOLINOS is making waves with its annual ocean swimming competition on Saturday, July 29. A whopping 251 swimmers will take the plunge for the Travesía a Nado Costa de Torremolinos race.
Competitors hail from across Andalucia and will compete in two swim distances, 3.5 kilometres and seven kilometres along the coastline. Local councillor for Sports Ramón Alcaide announced the event, sharing details about the race and safety measures.
Event coordinator Rodrigo Labrac said that 92 swimmers will tackle the 3.5 kilometre swim while 159 take on the longer seven kilometre challenge. Participants can choose between classic freestyle or wetsuits. The

mass start is set for 10.30am from Playa La Carihuela.
Labrac also highlighted the broad safety measures, including rescue boats, jet skis, kayaks and paddleboards manned by 83 volunteers. Medical assistance will be available onshore.
After the swim, athletes can enjoy massages and refreshments in the finish area. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers.
