FUENGIROLA is on a mission to reclaim its title as Spain’s top glassrecycling champ! The town council is teaming up with locals and hoteliers for an eco friendly campaign, announced on Tuesday, July 25.

The council is also aiming to top last year’s record of 689,688 kilograms of recycled glass with the campaign.
The Benalmadena Beer Festival aimed to showcase the diversity within the craft beer genre. The festival highlighted two categories: ale and lager. Ales ferment at warmer temperatures and have bold, aromatic flavours. Lagers ferment cooler over longer periods, yielding clean, crisp tastes. Within those groups exist endless varieties like malts, sugars, and spices, many of which were on display at the fair.
The festival gave locals a chance to expand their horizons and discover new beers that are not normally available in local bars.
Last year, Fuengirola rocked the national charts, bagging the Green Flag for the best glass collection on the coast during July and August.
“Our town is known for being clean and green, and we did it before. Now, let’s do it again!” said Carmen Díaz, local councillor for Maintenance.
The council is urging bars and restaurants to join the cause, boosting glass recycling during these months. They are going all out with ads on TV, radio, and billboards, spreading the green message.
