Bite-sized brilliance
IN a celebration of food and flavour, the 14th Tapas Route Awards were held at the Cervecería Twister in Torremolinos on Thursday, July 19.
More than 50 restaurants from CarihuelaBajondillo, El Calvario, CentroBajondillo, and PlayamarLos Alamos took part in the tapas route in May, showcasing their finest culinary creations.
Sabores Bistro beat off fierce competition to come out victorious in the ‘Favourite Tapa’ category with their mouthwatering hunter’s steak dish. Meanwhile, Café Bulevar By N.A wowed the judges with their innovative ‘Cómeme los huevos’ eggs dish to take home the title of ‘Most Creative Tapa’.
Meanwhile, L’Clave del Sol stole hearts and tastebuds with their ‘Berenjenas con jamón y queso’ which won first place for ‘Best Service’.
Close behind in second place, Dtapas Duven’s impressed with their unique chicken fajita, as well as Buddha Beach whose meat tartare which also scored highly. A tartare dish was also the winning formula for Cervecería Twister who also received second place for their Malagainspired tartare.
The awards ceremony was attended by local mayor Margarita del Cid who thanked all participants and encouraged future culinary adventures in the Tapas Route.
Digital delight
ESTEPONA launched brandnew digital tourist guides to showcase the city’s best attractions on Tuesday, July 18, just in time for the summer season.

Ana Velasco, unveiled the collection which includes a full booklet on Estepona and nine themed brochures covering topics like the Garden of the Costa del Sol, Poetry Routes, Museums, and more.
The guides highlight all the mustsee spots, including exciting new additions like the Bulevar, a fantastic extension of the seafront promenade, and the Mirador Carmen viewpoint, where you can admire incredible art by Carmen Thyssen.
For an adventurepacked visit, the Paso a Paso guide offers two route options; a two hour tour and a four hour exploration. The guides aim to help guests to make the most of their time in Estepona.
Visitors can easily download these guides from the official Tourism Department’s website: www.turis mo.estepona.es . It’s ecofriendly too, as users can choose to view the guides in a digital format or print out the parts they need, reducing paper use.





CALLING all bookworms! Estepona’s Summer Book Fair launched on the town’s beachfront promenade on Thursday, July 20. The event which has been organised by Urbano Libros and Estepona Council, promises a summer full of reading joy.


The fair’s grand opening saw an address by writer Javier González, who shared extracts from his latest book.
The book fair will now run until Sunday, September 10 from 11am to 2.30pm and 7pm to 12am.

Book lovers can find thousands of great books for very affordable prices, most cost less than €5! There is some thing for everyone on the varied shelves at the book fair, from bestsellers to history books and rare editions.
The fair will also feature several book signings including by local writer Julio Peces Ruiz who will sign copies of his book ‘El sonido del silencio’ on Thursday, August 3 at 9pm. FUENGIROLA has opened sign ups for this year’s Half Marathon, set to take place on Sunday, November 12. The council encourages all running lovers to get involved to help in reaching the town’s 1,000 participant target.
They aim to involve the whole town either by lacing up your trainers or volunteering. Three free training sessions will be held for beginners to get them marathon ready. There will also be a creche service at the venue for participants with children.
