Toast to hope
THE Spanish Association Against Cancer’s (AECC) glitzy Marbella Gala is just two weeks away and organisers say this year’s event promises to be bigger than ever as it aims to raise crucial funds for cancer research and support.
With 60 per cent of tickets already sold for the event on Saturday, August 5, organisers hope to reach their target of 500 dinner guests ‘to raise maximum funds’. The starstudded evening will feature a cocktail reception with gourmet food stations, a lavish dinner plus a spectacular prize raffle with over 300 gifts including sports memorabilia, jewellery, hotel stays and more.
Spanish singer and comedian Juan Peña will perform along with resident DJ Kike Supermix while TV presenter Eva Ruiz hosts the night. Singer Lolita Flores will also receive the prestigious Fighter Award for helping normalise the word ‘cancer’ and inspiring others through her recovery.
President Santiago GomezVillares said “The Gala proceeds represent around 40 per cent of our Marbella branch’s annual budget. If it’s a success, it will allow us to expand services for our cancer patients.”
The ultimate goal is a 70 per cent cancer survival rate, “only possible with more resources.”
