Cultural paradise
SUMMER is in full swing in Mijas with a packed programme of events each week throughout August.
The town’s Tapa Route, a culinary journey around Mijas Pueblo is underway on every Tuesday and Thursday until Thursday, August 24. During this event, guests can enjoy a unique tapa with a drink for the reduced price of €3. Eight establishments are taking part in the initiative around Mijas Pueblo.

There is also live music every night in the Virgen de la Pena square in Mijas Pueblo. Local performers from all genres have signed up to take part.
Each performance starts at 10pm and is completely free to attend.
Visitors can also enjoy a photography exhibition by UP students at the Cultural Centre in Las Lagunas, until Monday, August 28.
Other cultural experiences available this summer include flamenco every Wednesday at 2pm in the Virgen de la Pena square. Visitors can browse unique creations at a craft market each Sunday at Las Lagunas fairground and Urbanizacion Calypso in Mijas Pueblo from 9pm until 2pm.
Craft markets are also hitting La Cala with a market from 6.30pm until 12am at El Torreon on Mondays and at Branch Office Square on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Daphonbury 2023
A CHARITY festival is set to take Benalmadena by storm on Friday, September 22. Daphonbury 2023 music festival will bring together a range of talent on the Costa del Sol in one venue, at the Sunset Beach Hotel on Avenida del Sol. The afternoon event will kick off at 2pm and will run until 11pm with a whole host of performers with a wide range of styles and genres of show, to ap peal to all music tastes.
The festival has been arranged in memory of sorely missed Hannah ‘Daphne’ Edwards, raising vital funds for Bowel Cancer UK. The event was launched in 2021 and is back by popular demand!
The event will be presented by Tony Whitehouse, and will feature renowned local performers including Mama Cath and the Soul Sisters, Rock of the Ages, Michelle Daniels, Buddy Holly and the Crickets. Girl Power Spain, Frankie B. Lionel Richie, Laura Elen, Ricky Lavazza, Laura Carter, Soul Note and many more will also perform.
Further details about the concert will be released closer to the time, once details have been finalised. Tickets to the festival will cost €10 which will go to charity.
