EL EJIDO is bursting with pride after a double world championship win was conquered by Anastasiya Dmytriv. The swimmer of the Mare Nostrum Swimming Club, who has just turned 15, achieved two golds at the Para Olympic Swimming World Championships held in Manchester, England.

Known by all as Tasy, she first started winning medals with the Spanish national team in the 4 x 100 metre mixed styles relay of physical disability, with European record included, and later individually, in the SB8 100 arm trial.

In the previous world championship last year in Portugal the swimmer from El Ejido was also declared champion.

THE Guardia Civil came to the rescue of a woman who fell off a slope from the Amnesty Viewpoint, near Cala del Toro in the municipality of Níjar. As a result of the fall on August 2, the walker broke her leg.

A crew travelled to the location between Rodalquilar and Isleta del Moro after the woman’s companions called the emergency services.

During the call, it was confirmed the area was mountainous, stony and difficult to access. After notifying the medical services and requesting collaboration from Civil Protection, the Guardia Civil reached the injured person, who was with her husband and three other young people who were enjoying a walk in the area.

The medical services examined the woman, who was immobilised on a stretcher.

The victim reached the ambulance at around 9:45 in the evening and was taken to the hospital.
