RESPONDING to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, David Longworth, a retired British Red Cross and NHS Ambulance Service worker for Greater Manchester now living in the El Chaparral area, has launched a humanitarian aid initiative, the Blue Angels ES2UA (Spain to Ukraine) Humanitarian Aid Logistics.

The mission began as a deeply felt personal obligation to help alleviate the suffering witnessed on television. The campaign was launched on Facebook, garnering support from fellow expats, and began as a convoy of two vans loaded with essential supplies, such as clothing and hygiene products. The convoy was funded through grassroots efforts, including community events and personal donations.

Despite the costs, the hu manitarian effort has continued with each trip's leftover funds going directly into funding the next delivery. The volunteers' resolve remains undeterred, bolstered by the heartfelt appreciation they receive from the Ukrainian people.

Now, as the original van has been donated to the front lines, the initiative is seeking to raise funds for a replacement vehicle. The primary focus currently is medical supplies and highenergy foods. While not a registered charity, Blue Angels ES2UA operates as a nonprofit voluntary group, promising every donation goes directly toward aid. Supporters can contribute financially or through donation of necessary supplies, and every bit of help makes a real difference for the people in Ukraine.
