THOSE interested in delving into the history of Mijas will be pleased to hear that the Historical Archive is opening its doors to the public with guided tours.

Its oldest archive dates back to between 1507 and 1508 and is home to numerous documents recounting historical events in the town.

Councillor for Heritage, Nicolas Cruz, confirmed:

"From now on, residents and visitors will be able to find out how our historical archive works.!

"We are going to offer guided tours every third Thursday of the month to show our facilities, what kind of documents are kept in our archive and how they can be consulted," he added.

“99 per cent of the population, except for students of history or professionals who work in this field, do not know about it, so these guided tours will be very useful to give visibility to the Historical Archive and all its contents.”

Anyone interested in taking part in these guided tours should send an email to archivo@mijas.es with their personal details (name and surname) and telephone number.
