Short and long lets
NEW regulations created over the past few years do make it a little more difficult for people who own properties to let them out for short term rental.
You must register, meet certain criteria for your property and report details of the people renting similar in some ways to the obligations put upon hotels.
The reason for this is clearly that the Spanish government wants to ensure that holiday visitors can be assured of a certain standard of accommodation and not surprisingly also wants to stop individuals from renting their properties and not declaring the income for tax purposes.
If you only have a single property, live abroad and don’t speak or read Spanish, or indeed understand the ways of Spanish bureaucracy then you would be well advised to engage a specialist estate agency to look after the let for you.

It may cost a little more but could save you not only a lot of stress but save you from inno cently breaking the rules and getting fined, plus of course these compa nies can arrange cleaning, replacement of broken goods and collect the rental for you.
